This also extends to his story outside of the film's universe. After all, a lot of work goes into creating a character and bringing him to life in the film. Garaka has also appeared in other media related to Ghostbusters Franchise.

Who is Jaraka?

Garaka is a ghost god who serves as the main antagonist of Ghostbusters: Frozen EmpireHe can take the form of dark vapor, but his physical form is that of a large, thin being with gray skin.

Other ghosts are afraid of him.

Garaka is known to be feared by other supernatural beings. In one scene, other captured ghosts submissively calm down when a ball containing Garaka is brought near their cells. Even parts of Gozer, the Sumerian god of destruction who served as the antagonist in the first film, are Ghostbusters: AfterlifeThe entity seems to have been terrified. However, Garaka's power is not infallible, as Melody has proven herself capable of challenging him.

One of his most notable features is his horns. He once had a pair of horns on his head, which were forcibly removed, necessary to contain him. In the events of the film, he was able to regain his horns while manipulating Phoebe's body. Although a large amount of his power lies in these horns, he is still very strong without them.

Additionally, Garaka also shows weakness to copper and fire, which fits his connection to ice. Once sealed, he also needs a human to recite the chant to free him.

What are Garaka's powers?

Garaka has a strong connection to ice, always being haunted by the cold. His most notable power is the “Power of Death”, which can freeze a victim to death by channeling human fears. He hopes to conquer the world using “Kocharite Omote”, the ability to kill with “fear itself”.

Ice Age II Power

While he eventually planned to freeze the entire world, the Manhattan adventure community got a taste of his power when he unleashed him during a mock ritual, in which a room full of people were frozen to death, with their limbs broken. The event became known as the “New York City Death Mystery”.

Interestingly, one caveat to Garaka's power is that his supernatural coldness does not kill his victims instantly. When he freezes the entirety of New York City, victims can come back to life even after hours of freezing. However, Garaka's victims can still shatter at the slightest touch or even sound, putting them in grave danger.

Although Garaka is not without his weaknesses, such as copper, fire, and the removal of his horns, he has proven remarkably invincible to the Ghostbusters' standard proton devices. This is believed to be because he is from another dimension, meaning he is of a different nature than other entities the Ghostbusters have dealt with.
