Titled Paris has fallenProduced by French platform Canal+, the series will follow a new character who, like Butler’s Mike Banning before him, finds himself facing a terrorist force while protecting a prominent politician. The series is accompanied by all manner of shootings, explosions and betrayal.

Along with Jalab who replaced him Babylon M and Visions Star Mathieu Kassovitz due to those dreaded “creative differences,” Paris has fallen Stars too Umbrella Academy Ritu Arya plays an MI5 agent who must work alongside French security agent Gleb. Gerard Butler has also been widely reported to be appearing in the spin-off series as Mike Banning. However, it is currently unknown if this will be the case as the series has undergone some major cast changes throughout production.

Fans React to Paris Has Fallen, Want More of Gerard Butler's Action Hero

While the studio was no doubt anticipating a new chapter in He fell While the new franchise may have fans excited for more action, many have since taken to social media to question why they're trying to expand the series beyond longtime action hero Gerard Butler.


Fortunately, a new installment under Butler's direction is currently in development. Titled: Night has fallenButler will return in the sequel as Secret Service agent Mike Banning in another thrilling adventure. Plot details are still unknown, but it has been revealed that director Ric Roman Waugh and screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen will return alongside Butler.


Unfortunately, it may be a while. Butler recently suggested a “fun” idea for a sequel, but hinted that it could be a while before audiences sit in a theater to see Banning again take down bad guys and save the world.

“We have a script for it, but I haven’t worked on it yet. We have a really fun idea, it just needs to be developed. But it’s been fun lately, doing action. I’d say – I want to play Tom Hanks in action movies. Let me take a break from Mike Banning, where there are literally seven or eight full-on fight scenes in every movie, hand-to-hand combat. The reality is that real characters have to bring out something extraordinary in themselves that the audience can really relate to because that’s what we need right now.”
