GOP Plots Lawsuits to Overturn a Trump Loss. Harris Plans to Fight Back

Republicans put The stage is set for a legal battle for the White House, and Kamala Harris' campaign says they're ready to fight it out in court.

like Rolling Stone Last week, The American Dome exclusively reported that the Georgia State Elections Board was working with Trump supporters to draft rules that would give local officials the ability to independently report voting irregularities, potentially delaying the declaration of a winner. Meanwhile, Michigan Republicans have sued Detroit, alleging the city did not hire enough Republican poll workers. The North Carolina Republican Party and the Republican National Committee have also filed a lawsuit alleging that the state elections board allowed people to register to vote without fully verifying their identities.

“We believe that every lawsuit they’ve filed is a building block for the argument they’re going to make in November that the election was rigged,” a Harris campaign official told NBC News. “That’s our fundamental view of what our lawsuit is about. And that’s why we’re prepared, and we’re winning in court, and we’re going to make sure that this election is free and fair.”

“President Trump’s election integrity efforts are dedicated to protecting every legal vote, mitigating threats to the voting process, and securing the election,” Republican National Committee spokeswoman Claire Zunk told NBC. “As Democrats continue their electoral interference against President Trump and the American people, our operation is countering their schemes and preparing for November.”

Trump continues to scream about election fraud and prepare his supporters to buy into the big lie if he loses in November, again putting himself in opposition to democracy as he did in 2020, leading to the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

But the Harris campaign is preparing for this kind of fight. “This is the most prepared of any Democratic campaign at this point because we knew this was coming,” a second Harris campaign official told NBC News. “It’s critical to have these people in the states who know the law and the players and have lived through 2020, seen what happened there and learned from it.”

With polls indicating a close race, it is terrifying to think that victory or defeat will be decided not by voters, but by local election officials and the courts.
