Grant Ellis has been named the star of Season 29 of “The Bachelor” following his exit Monday from Season 21 of “The Bachelorette,” which is led by Jane Tran.
Ellis is 30 years old and lives in Houston, where he works as a day trader. According to ABC’s official bio for the franchise’s upcoming lead, he is a “self-professed momma’s boy” whose “infectious smile and unwavering positivity instantly light up every room he enters. The former professional basketball player is passionate about his career as a day trader, but when he’s not immersed in the fast-paced world of finance, you can find him cheering on the Lakers, hitting pins at the bowling alley or belting out tunes at karaoke nights. As a single, Ellis is eager to embark on a journey filled with romance, adventure and real relationships. He hopes to find a partner who shares his values of loyalty, humor and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.”
Ellis was one of the first contestants to stand out on Season 21 of “Bachelorette,” developing a relationship with Tran throughout group dates and cocktail parties in the first four episodes. The pair went on their first one-on-one date in the Week 5 episode, which aired on August 5. Over dinner, Ellis opened up to Tran about how his father’s drug problems had affected him, while Tran described her own struggles with her father’s absence. The following night, Ellis shared with the other contestants that he was beginning to fall in love with Tran. But to the surprise of many fans, Tran sent him home during Week 6 instead of promoting him to his hometown, where she would meet the families of the remaining contestants.
Tran entered the ABC reality show franchise as a contestant on season 28 of “The Bachelor,” which aired earlier this year and starred Joey Graziadei, who is now married to Kelsey Anderson. Season 29 will air in 2025, as will season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise.” This fall, ABC will debut “The Golden Bachelorette,” a spinoff of “The Golden Bachelor” that will be helmed by 61-year-old Joan Vasos.
“The Bachelor” is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon. Claire Freeland, Bennett Graebner, Tim Warner and Peter Jost serve as executive producers.
