Happy Gilmore star Christopher McDonald has revived the villainous golfer Shooter McGavin and goaded Sandler in the wake of the news that a sequel is now in the works. Taking to Twitter/X, McDonald showed off his putting technique alongside the caption, “A little preview of what @AdamSandler can expect in the sequel,” as well as firing off finger guns and the cocky swagger of Shooter, the villain audiences love to hate.

It was McDonald himself who revealed that Adam Sandler is now working on Happy Gilmore 2 for Netflix, with the actor saying:

“I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this.’ I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘How ’bout that,’ [and] he shows me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2.’ Maybe you should cut that out (of this audio) because I don’t wanna be a liar, but he did show me that, and I thought, ‘Well, that would be awesome.’ So, it’s in the works. Fans demand it, dammit.”

McDonald has since reached back down into the depths of his soul to once again breathe life into Shooter McGavin, with further tweets from the actor goading both Sandler and Happy. McDonald makes reference to the events of the first movie, saying he “Can’t wait to win Grandmas house back,” as well as mocking Sandler’s well-known casual dress sense.

Of course, it’s all in good fun, and will no doubt have Happy Gilmore fans eager to once again see the rivalry on screen. No doubt he hopes to see him at 9 o’clock on the 9th green all over again.
