HBO has canceled its reality series about drag. We are herethree months after its final episode aired on May 31. The critically acclaimed series premiered in 2020 and featured drag queen Bob, Eureka O’Hara, and Shangela Lacueva Wadley as they traveled across the country training small town residents to prepare them for a one-night-only drag show. Season four saw Sasha Velour, Priyanka, Jayda Essence-Hall, and Latrice Royale lead the show. Backed by an interesting cast, We are here This is perhaps the most influential show on HBO, which has had four seasons as of this summer.
As Variety reported, We are here The fourth season will be the show’s final season after premiering on HBO a few years ago. HBO released a statement on the cancellation, discussing its many awards and social significance. At a time when bigoted aggression is still directed toward drag shows and the LGBTQ+ community as a whole, We are here It stood strong as a reality show that spread a positive message and was often emotional. HBO Statement:
“We are honored to bring four powerful and honest seasons of We’re Here to viewers around the world, amidst the ongoing hostility directed at drag performers and the LGBTQ+ community in general. Our two recent Emmy nominations, along with four previous Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, a Critics Choice Real TV and LGBTQ Award, Television Academy Honors and three GLAAD Media Awards, fill us with immense pride. After bringing the show to over 20 cities across America, the series’ journey has come to an end, with Season 4 being its final. We thank Johnny Ingram, Steve Warren, Peter Logerico and all of our incredible queens and crew for proving countless times that love is stronger than hate.”
