Hear Sylvan Esso Remix the Postal Service’s ‘District Sleeps Alone’


New Release Arrives Ahead of Postal Service's European Tour to Celebrate give up 21st Anniversary

Ben Gibbard’s vocals are front and center, with Jenny Lewis’s backing circling around him. Meanwhile, Jimmy Tamborello’s synths (and likely Sylvan Esso’s keys) drop around the vocals, giving way to some echoey, dubious moments. The new arrangement gives Gibbard’s meditative revelation, “I was the one who deserved to go,” more punctuation than the original.

“I love the band Sylvan Esso and was excited to hear the song through their ears,” Tamburello said in a statement. “The song came out so good, big and fun!”
