Henry Golding on A Simple Favor 2, Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2

Henry Golding looked dapper in a linen suit on Tuesday at the launch of Gorgio Armani's Mare collection at Little Beach House Malibu, but there was something different about him.

The actor was sporting a new summer haircut.

“I just spent six months in Munich with Nicole Kidman filming the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers,” he tells me. “My hair was all puffy and thick, but I was sick of it.”

Then he smiled, “I've been told that Buzzed is very popular right now.”

Nicole Kidman returns as eccentric wellness expert Masha in Season 2 of the Hulu series, joined by new cast members Golding, Murray Bartlett, Christine Baranski, Mark Strong, Lena Olin, Annie Murphy, Lucas Englander, King Princess, Dolly De Leon, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Aras Aydin.

Of course, Kidman's character's accent, which people have been talking about for a long time, returned. Golding says the Oscar-winning actress sometimes kept the accent on even when she wasn't filming: “I wouldn't say she's a Method in that sense, but I think it would be hard to be in and out of it.”

Golding will also star in “A Simple Favor 2,” where he will reprise his role as Blake Lively's husband-turned-lover Anna Kendrick, with Paul Feig directing the film. The sequel was filmed in Italy.

“It's crazy,” Golding said. “The script is even crazier. It's not just Blake's character. The madness just exploded.”

The film is currently in post-production. “Paul is in the editing room now,” Golding said. “Every now and then he texts me and says, 'This scene is so wild.'”

Golding insists that he never thought of a second film while the first was being made. “Everyone thought it was going to be a standalone film, but then people loved it and it created a huge buzz. It’s one of those guilty pleasures,” he says.

Feige exclusively told me in May that they decided to throw out the first script for the sequel. “We threw out the original draft that was going to be made,” he recalled. “We were like, ‘Even though we love what we have here, we don’t think this is 100 percent what the people who loved the first movie really want.’ We’ve been working on it for two and a half years now, almost three years, developing it and getting it right.”

The second part of “A Simple Favor” wrapped filming in late May. The new cast includes Tony Award winner Alex Newell and Oscar winner and frequent Feig collaborator Allison Janney.
