Master of Modern Horror Mike Flanagan There may be talks of a DC movie in the near future. Flanagan has been a bit vague, but he did tease the idea of taking part in a reboot of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s superhero series. Maybe he could tackle one of DC’s horror-adjacent properties?
As ScreenRant reported, Flanagan appeared at Fan Expo Canada 2024, where he was asked about a recent meeting he had with producer Peter Safran in Paris, while he was on vacation. It seems that Flanagan wasn’t just taking a leisurely trip with his partner and frequent colleague Kate Siegel. Asked about the meeting, Flanagan had this to say:
“I will say that I've always been a huge fan of James Gunn as a person and a director, and this is a world that I love to be a part of. And… yeah, we had a great time.”
The talk didn't end there. Flanagan was also asked about his favorite DC characters, and his answer was far from clear. Everything is still under wraps for now, and he has no intention of revealing a project that is still theoretical. However, he did give ScreenRant a very important clue:
“Who are my favorite characters? If I said that, it would be on ScreenRant. [Laughs] I can't say anything. Yeah, if you Google it enough… just to answer your question, I absolutely love everyone there.”
Flanagan's next project is far from the realm of superheroes. The horror master is directing a new film in exorcist The franchise, which is still untitled, is scheduled for release in March 2026.
