“Saturday Night Live” continues a successful run of shows this weekend as it welcomes “Barbie” star Ryan Gosling to the venerable studio. Chris Stapleton, who was one of many big winners at Sunday night’s CMT Awards, will join Gosling as the episode’s musical guest.
The long-running sketch comedy show, currently in its 49th season, broadcasts live every Saturday night on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET.. But the best way for cable-cutters to stream the show live is through the NBC-owned streamer Peacock, in addition to live TV streamers such as DirecTV, Sling TV, Fubo TV and Hulu + Live TV.
Gosling, who made a surprise cameo appearance during the Kristin Wiig-hosted show last weekend, posted a teaser this week for his upcoming hosting gig, which will mark his third time hosting the NBC series. In the promo video, he nervously enters Stapleton’s dressing room hoping to get a signed autograph from the country singer only to find a lone cowboy hat sitting on the vanity. After dramatic consternation over what he should do, he finally walks up to the hat, puts it on and smizes at the camera as Stapleton’s chart-topping “White Horse” plays in the background. Gosling is next seen on the big screen alongside Emily Blunt in “The Fall Guy,” in theaters May 3. Meanwhile, at the Academy of Country Music Awards last weekend, Stapleton took home the top prize, for entertainer of the year award. He was among the most-nominated artists going into the ceremony, where he was honored with a total of five nods including male artist of the year.
Gosling and Stapleton are among several bold-faced names to step into the studio for this season of “SNL.” Last weekend, former cast member Wiig returned to host the show alongside musical guest Raye. Other former guests this season include Ramy Yousseff, Josh Brolin, Sydney Sweeney, Shane Gillis, Ayo Edebiri, Dakota Johnson and more.
