Idris Elba, Maya Jama And little sims They have signed on as producers to bring Bush Theatre's production of “Shifters” to London's West End. Written by Lumby (winner of the Susan Smith Blackburn Award for Lava) and directed by the Evening Standard Theatre Award winner Lynette Linton (“Blues for an Alabama Sky,” “August in England”), the play will run for a limited nine-week run, from August 12 to October 12.

Shifters stars Heather Agyapong (“Schoolgirls; or, The Mean African Girls Play”) and Tosin Cole (“Supacell,” “Doctor Who”), who reprise their roles from the original Bush Theatre production.

The story follows Dre and Dees, two talented young black men whose lives intersect after years of taking different paths. As they discover new secrets and old scars, they wonder if fate has brought them together again.

The production team also announced the launch of Shifting The Narrative Bookshop, a pop-up initiative showcasing Black British plays, literature and poetry. The bookstore will run from August 12-20 in the theatre’s outdoor foyer, featuring titles that focus on Black joy, love and celebration.
