“I'm really excited that this movie is about to happen. It's going to be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. There are no holds barred. The Peaky Blinders are in full war mode.”
Cillian Murphy to return for Peaky Blinders
After further speculation, it has now been confirmed that series lead actor and recent Oscar winner Cillian Murphy will also be returning to play gang leader Tommy Shelby. The actor has since released a statement of his own, describing the film as a “fan film.”
“It seems Tommy Shelby is not done with me yet… It is a pleasure to be working with Steven Knight and Tom Harper again on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is a fan-made project.”
First appeared in 2013, The thin masks The series follows Cillian Murphy as Thomas “Tommy” Shelby, the dangerous leader of the Peaky Blinders crime gang based in Birmingham in 1919. The series ended with its sixth season in 2022, where we saw Tommy ride off into the sunset with the world believing him dead. This seemingly definitive ending led many to believe that the journey was now over for Tommy, but that clearly wasn't the case.

“In Season 6, we’re bringing in the new generation, and they’re going to be involved in what’s happening in the movie. I think it’s about finding these actors that we watch and think, ‘Here they are. This is the future.’”
