After “Mary’s Story” and “Take a Chance with Me,” French director Jean-Pierre Améris returns to Parisian Indie Sales for his upcoming film “It Takes Two to Tango,” a romantic comedy starring Valérie Lemercier (“Aline,” “Nicolas on Holiday”).
The film, currently being shot in Geneva and France, also stars Gérard Darmon (The King) and Patrick Timsit (The Brother and Sister). The film follows Antoine Toussaint (Darmon), a famous 70-year-old, frustrated singer, who meets Victoire (Lemercier), a kind-hearted fan with some problems, while on a train to Geneva, where he plans to end his life. This unexpected encounter upsets all of Antoine's plans, for better or worse.
“It Takes Two to Tango” is produced by Denis Carrot and Sophie Revel at French company Escazal Films and will be released in France by ARP in April 2025.
“We are excited to once again collaborate with Jean-Pierre Améris and bring his world and compelling characters to audiences around the world,” said Nicolas Eschbach, CEO of Indie Sales.
The company is starting to sell the film at fall festivals and markets. The company is participating in the Venice Film Festival with the Palestinian film “Happy Eid,” which is being screened in the Horizons section and will later be screened in Toronto. The film is directed by Scandar Copti, whose first feature film, “Ajami,” won the Camera d’Or at Cannes in 2019 and represented Palestine in the Oscar race.
