Could Claudia (Delainey Hayles) possibly survive this time around? Fans of the late author Anne Rice’sVampire Chronicles novel Interview with the Vampire know that the undead daughter of Louis and Lestat, Claudia, tragically dies in the source material. But, according to star Sam Reid, who portrays Lestat de Lioncourt in the AMC adaptation, “a really f—ing cool twist” is going to happen in Season 2 of the series. Reid said in an interview with SFX magazine (per GamesRadar+):
“There’s a really f—ing cool twist in this season that is not in the books
that I struggled with because
I was like, ‘This is different, and I’m not sure.’
But actually, you can justify it because when you look at the books and look at the way that they come out, and
what happens in subsequent books after season one, there is a level of an unreliable element.
You don’t always have to know the truth, because
Anne Rice never really tells you the truth.
She likes to change it up a bit.”

While Claudia surviving her sunny, sizzling fate at the hands of those monsters making up the Théâtre des Vampires would mark a huge change, there are any number of twists and turns the television series could take that the 1976 novel did not. So, the twist Reid refers to could be anything. Regardless, executive producer Rolin Jones promises bigger things in Interview with the Vampire Season 2.
A ‘Bigger’ Interview with the Vampire in Season 2
Memory is the monster in Season 2 of Interview with the Vampire. Louis de Pointe du lac (Jacob Anderson) and Claudia (Hayles) have ventured abroad and will eventually come across the Théâtre des Vampires in Paris. And executive producer Rolin Jones is promising “bigger” things in Season 2. Jones said in the same interview:
“We’ve tried to figure out how we can be as ‘honorable’ and also aggressive,
like we were in season one, with something that isn’t plot-driven.
We clearly went bigger,
which can be a pitfall for folks. But
I think we work really, really hard and were very critical on ourselves
to make sure that we didn’t lose any emotional depth.”
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Release Date Revealed & More Immortal Universe Updates
Louis and Claudia’s time in Paris begins this May on AMC and AMC+ — more updates on Mayfair Witches and Immortal Universe unveiled.
Jones continued:
“So, the people that are expecting season one,
you’re going to be sorely disappointed in a great way.
We got bigger. We got rawer. Hearts are fatter.
And the consequences are way more brutal. They’re just bigger.
It’s all rigged to crack open your heart, and then we pick it up and we throw it against the wall
about three more times. That’s the deal.”
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 premieres Sunday, May 12 on AMC and AMC+. And fans can whet their appetites for the upcoming premiere by watching a clip featuring Louis and Armand (Assad Zaman) right now. And don’t miss stars Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson recapping Season 1, too.
