When it comes to stunts donkeyMany people think that there is nothing stopping them from doing one of their crazy, dangerous and often stupid tricks. However, it seems that A certain trick has been cancelled. Thanks to the star Steve-OA chance encounter with a transgender supermarket cashier the day before he is due to have breast surgery in the name of comedy.
Speaking recently to Consequence of Sound, Steve-O revealed that everything was fine and he was planning to go ahead with the questionable procedure, but a “sign from the universe” gave the star a reason to back out after speaking to the cashier. He said:
“On the day I was due to have the operation, I was paying for my groceries in the supermarket, and the person who was paying for my groceries was openly transgender, and it felt like a sign from the universe. So I asked the transgender person if I could offer them something, and I had a conversation with this person that had a profound impact on me. I hadn’t had any specific meetings or conversations with transgender people because I didn’t really feel like I had to.”
This conversation completely changed his mind, although he noted that while testing the material, Many transgender people supported the stunt because of its comedic potential and did not see it as malicious or hurtful in any way. He added:
“I knew what my motivation was, I knew what my intention was, and it wasn’t to hurt anyone. I was just trying to get a laugh. I did a bunch of workshop presentations to test the material, and a number of trans people came up to me after the shows to express their support. [the stunt]“I think some people would have accepted that, and some people wouldn’t. It would have had mixed results.”
Steve-O's original plans to improve his performance
While the breast augmentation surgery was just one part of the stunt, what exactly does Steve-O plan to do once he gets his new features? The star was happy to share the crazy things he's been up to in order to bring laughs — and maybe a punch in the face — to the series.
“I was riding a pink Vespa at the Sturgis Motorcycle Festival completely incognito, so no one could tell who I was, and my plan was to film with hidden cameras as I rode my bike toward large biker gangs who were supposed to be watching me. I would approach them, take off my helmet, and say, ‘Yeah, buddy,’ and get a crazy reaction, which was bound to be controversial.”
Following the cancellation of the plans, Steve-O revealed he had one regret about not continuing the whole thing. – Simply because he screamed at the top of his lungs about it beforehand.
“It was hard for me. When I look back, I’m so grateful that it didn’t happen. I’m really glad that I didn’t. But that didn’t make it any easier, because I was very upfront about my plans to do it, and I’ve never been the type of artist to say I’m going to do something and then not do it. That’s what I had a problem with, not keeping my word.”
