Fortunately, the leads manage to make it a fun time.
The film follows Katie (Awkwafina), a former actress who ended her acting career to care for her mother. When her mother dies, she returns to Los Angeles to resume acting, completely unaware of the city’s new lottery law. When Katie needs to borrow clothes from her terrible Airbnb host (played hilariously by Aidan Mayeri), she accidentally ends up with her lottery ticket and becomes the jackpot winner, making Katie a target for everyone in Los Angeles looking to claim the prize.
When Katie seems doomed, Neil (Sena) steps in to save her. In exchange for a small protection fee, he agrees to protect her and make sure she survives to collect her winnings. Together, the duo must fight the entire population of Los Angeles until the sun sets so Katie can claim her prize.

Here, she's allowed to play the comic straight man as she did in last year's underrated film. Test ladyShe fits this type of role very well. Awkwafina knows how to sell the reaction in natural, relatable ways. She also excels here in the action scenes.
