It’s a satire meant to poke fun at people’s obsession with fame and fortune and a commentary on recent economic angst. It never quite lives up to these lofty ambitions and is a more straightforward action comedy that makes socially significant references and often fails to hit the mark. Fortunately, the leads manage to make it a fun time.
The film follows Katie (Awkwafina), a former actress who ended her acting career to care for her mother. When her mother dies, she returns to Los Angeles to resume acting, completely unaware of the city’s new lottery law. When Katie needs to borrow clothes from her terrible Airbnb host (played hilariously by Aidan Mayeri), she accidentally ends up with her lottery ticket and becomes the jackpot winner, making Katie a target for everyone in Los Angeles looking to claim the prize.
When Katie seems doomed, Neil (Sena) steps in to save her. In exchange for a small protection fee, he agrees to protect her and make sure she survives to collect her winnings. Together, the duo must fight the entire population of Los Angeles until the sun sets so Katie can claim her prize.

Desperate to survive the hordes of jackpot hunters, she reluctantly teams up with amateur lottery protection agent Noel Cassidy (John Cena), who will do anything in his power to lure her into the sunset in exchange for a piece of her prize. However, Noel must contend with his cunning rival, Louis Lewis (Simo Liu), who is also out to collect Katie’s commission at any cost.

As with all of Feige's films, the actors and how they're directed become the key element, and Awkwafina and John Cena make an incredibly entertaining duo. While most audiences may associate Awkwafina with comedy, she's also an incredibly talented star with a wide range, such as her amazing dramatic role in farewell.
Here, she's allowed to play the comic straight man as she did in last year's underrated film. Test ladyShe fits this type of role very well. Awkwafina knows how to sell the reaction in natural, relatable ways. She also excels here in the action scenes. If Marvel Studios ever gets her a role in a movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings A sequel to the movie, and hopefully Awkwafina will get more action.
