Jamie Lee Curtis Wins Best Guest Actress Emmy for “The Bear”


Jamie Lee Curtis won an Emmy for her work on “The Bear.”

The BAFTA, Golden Globe and Oscar-winning actress can add an Emmy to her collection after winning best guest actress in a comedy series on Sunday for her work on the hit FX show.

Curtis was previously nominated for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie” in 1998 for her role in “Nicholas' Gift”.

In “The Bear”, she played Donna Berzato, the alcoholic mother of Carmie, Sugar, and Mikey, in two episodes of the second season. She was originally introduced in “Fish”, a flashback episode that recounted the events of a family Christmas dinner five years prior to the original timeline of the series.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays Richie on the show, praised Curtis' performance in an interview with diverse“Jamie Lee[Curtis]was so prepared, and she had to do so much work that week,” Moss-Bachrach said. “It’s so hard to come on someone else’s set as a guest and own it like Jamie Lee did. It’s just so amazing. I can’t overstate how much I admire the work and preparation she put in.”

Curtis beat out Olivia Colman (“Bear”), Kaitlin Olson (“Hacks”), Da'Vine Joy Randolph (“Block Murders”), Maya Rudolph (“Saturday Night Live”) and Kristen Wiig (“Saturday Night Live”), who were also nominated in the category.

The Bear premiered on June 23, 2022. The third season premiered on June 26.
