The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has re-elected producer Janet Young as its president for a third term.
In addition, several individuals were elected to Board Officer positions, including Leslie Barber, Vice President (Chair of the Membership Committee); Devon Franklin, Vice President (Chair of the Equity and Inclusion Committee); Donna Gigliotti, Vice President/Treasurer (Chair of the Finance Committee); Lynette Howell Taylor, Vice President (Chair of the Awards Committee) and Howard A. Rodman, Vice President/Treasurer (Chair of the Governance Committee).
“I am thrilled that Janet will return for a third term as Academy President to continue our outstanding work over the past two years,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer. “I am also thrilled to welcome an impressive list of dedicated Board Officers this year. I look forward to working with our officers and governors to advance the Academy’s mission, serve our global membership, celebrate the work of our international filmmaking community, continue to ensure the financial health of the Academy, and expand our reach and impact within the industry.”
This is Young's sixth year as governor general, while Franklin, Howell Taylor and Rodman were re-elected. Gigliotti had previously served as an officer, while this is Barber's first.
Yang has been a member of the Producers' Branch since 2002, and her credits include “South Central,” “The Joy Luck Club,” “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” “Zero Effect,” “Savior,” “The Weight of Water,” “High Crimes,” and the Academy Award-nominated “Over the Moon.” She also won an Emmy for HBO's “Indictment: The McMartin Trial.”
The term of office of the Board of Directors is limited to a maximum of 12 years for life, including two terms of three years, consecutive or non-consecutive, followed by a two-year break, after which they may return for two additional three-year terms. Officers are entitled to hold any office for a maximum of four consecutive terms, each term lasting one year.
