Jeff Bridges, J.J. Abrams and Mark Hamill were among the Hollywood figures who joined the White Men for Harris fundraising and organizing rally Monday night.
The event, which is streamed on YouTube, has raised more than $3 million for Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign.
“I'm white, I'm a man, and I'm here for Harris,” said Bridges, who played the quiet, easygoing character “The Dude” in the Cohen brothers' 1998 film “The Big Lebowski.”
“I'm excited, man!” Bridges added.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Abrams promised during the call to donate $50,000 raised from attendees.
More than 140,000 people registered to attend the gathering, which featured appearances by a number of actors including Hamill, Sean Astin, Josh Groban, Josh Gad and Bradley Whitford.
Democratic officials involved in the campaign include Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, all of whom have been considered potential vice presidential candidates for Harris.
“How many times in a hundred days do you get to change the course of the world? How many times in a hundred days do you get to do something that will impact future generations?” Walz asked.
“How many times in the world do you have to let this bastard wake up and find out that a black woman kicked him and sent him into the street, and you know that’s something that this guy is going to have to live with for the rest of his life,” Walz said of former President Donald Trump.
Also on Monday evening, an organizing call was held under the title “Women for Harris” and included actress Yvette Nicole Brown, “Pachinko” author Min Jin Lee, social activist Gloria Steinem and others.
