The race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race may be heating up, But there's a different kind of race going on in Hollywood when it comes to who will best portray Ronald Reagan: Dennis Quaid or Jeff Daniels? Quaid is set to star in a biopic about the 40th US president, while Daniels has just signed on to play the late president in a new film about the events surrounding Reagan's 1986 meeting with the last Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

Photography by Reykjavik Filming is expected to begin in October, with the filming taking place at the Hovdi House, the actual site of the 1986 summit. While the meeting between the two leaders seemed to yield little at the time, the event has gone down in history as one of the most pivotal moments of the Cold War, as it became clear to both Reagan and Gorbachev that they could not continue on the path of war. Both sides eventually made concessions, and the Cold War finally ended in 1991 with the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
