Jeremy Clarkson Gets Sentimental in ‘The Grand Tour’ Finale Trailer

Tissues at the ready, “The Grand Tour” fans — the final episode is shaping up to be a tearjerker.

Prime Video has released a nearly three-minute trailer for the final episode, “The Grand Tour: One for the Road,” which sees hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May head to Zimbabwe for what is being advertised as their final episode ever.

Set to the tune of Bonnie Tyler's emotional song “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” the trailer gives fans a glimpse of what to expect when the special finally drops on September 13, including alligators, sunken boats, and some sweet nostalgia.

In one scene, Hammond notes, “We never thought what we were doing together would last as long as it did.” [long] “As it is,” May marvels at how long the trio have worked together: “22 years!”

Clarkson, Hammond and May first teamed up on the BBC motoring show Top Gear in 2002. After Clarkson was fired from the show for punching a producer, his fellow presenters left the show in solidarity. The trio were soon snapped up by Prime Video to present another motoring show, The Grand Tour, in 2016, which was similar in tone and theme to Top Gear.

“I’m definitely going to miss doing this kind of stuff,” Klaxon admits in the trailer as he hits the road in Zimbabwe.

In a synopsis for the special, Prime Video teases: “In their latest adventure, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May ignore Mr. Wellman’s instructions and head to Zimbabwe in three cars they’ve always wanted to own – a Lancia Monte Carlo, a Ford Capri 3-litre and a Triumph Stag – on a stunning road trip through beautiful and sometimes challenging landscapes that leads to an emotional conclusion on an eerily familiar island.”

In one scene, shown in the trailer, the three men are messing around with what appears to be a broken-down car when Hammond jokes: “We don't all have to go to the same nursing home, do we? I mean, it's not mandatory after this?”

“He said he'd delete our numbers once he was done with them!” Clarkson laughs as he points to May.
