Comedian John Mulaney and actress Olivia Munn have announced the birth of their second child, a girl they have named Mei John Mulaney.
Moon posted the news on her Instagram account on Sunday, writing that Mai was born via surrogate on Thursday.
“I felt so deeply hurt that I couldn’t hold my daughter,” Moon captioned her post, which included a photo of the parents and baby together in the hospital. “When I first met the surrogate, we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, and I knew I had found a true angel. Words cannot express my gratitude for keeping our baby safe for 9 months and making our dreams come true.”
Mulaney also shared the news on Instagram, writing that their daughter was born in the Year of the Dragon. “I love my little girl so much,” he wrote, sharing with Moon that “Méi (pronounced mai) means plum in Chinese.”
Earlier this year, Moon revealed that she would be fighting a private battle against breast cancer in 2023. “I needed to catch my breath and get through some of the hardest parts before I got involved,” she said after undergoing a double mastectomy last year.
In May, she said, Good morning America She said she wanted to document her cancer journey for her two-year-old son Malcolm, whom she shares with Mulaney. “If I didn’t make it, I wanted my son to know when he grows up that I fought to be here, that I did the best I could,” she said. She also revealed that she underwent egg retrieval after her double mastectomy in the hopes that she and Mulaney could have another child in the future.
