Kamala Harris DNC Speech Ratings: 26.2 Million Viewers

The fourth and final night of the Democratic National Convention averaged 26.2 million viewers, thanks to presidential candidate Kamala Harris' speech, which peaked at 28.9 million viewers.

This represents a significant improvement over the flat viewership over the first three nights: Nielsen estimated that 20 million people tuned in on Monday, followed by 20.8 million on Tuesday and 20.2 million on Wednesday.

Overall, the Democratic National Convention was more widely watched than the Republican National Convention. The final night of the RNC drew an average of 24.5 million viewers, peaking at 28.4 million during Donald Trump’s speech—just below Harris’s peak. The RNC opened with 18.1 million viewers on its first night before falling to 14.8 million on the second night and then rising again to 18 million on the third night.

Of the average 26.2 million people on Thursday, 1.4 million were between the ages of 18 and 34, up from 968,000 the night before.

Each estimate takes into account a wide range of networks. Monday's estimates include ABC, CBS, NBC, Scripps News, Univision, CNN, CNNNe, FOX Business, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, Newsmax, NewsNation and PBS, while Tuesday's and Wednesday's estimates include the same estimates except Univision. Thursday's estimates include Univision, Telemundo and all other networks previously measured.

“In many ways, Donald Trump is not a serious man,” Harris said during her speech. “But the consequences of returning Donald Trump to the White House are very serious. This election is not just the most important in our lifetime. It is one of the most important in the life of our nation.”
