World War Second drama six three eight The trailer for the film, released Wednesday, shows an all-black female military squad crawling through rubble and ducking for cover as they prepare to serve overseas in World War II.

Tyler Perry six three eight This story is inspired by the Women of Color Army unit who served in World War II, the first all-female military unit of color to do so. While the women battle rampant sexism, racism, and dangerous working conditions, these unsung heroes remain committed to serving the nation and completing the mission.
One of the movie's heroes says: “I give you my best, and you give me your best. Many people don't want us to succeed. We have to prove that we can achieve more.”
Washington plays the fearless Major Charity Adams, commander of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. (The U.S. Army created the 6888th Battalion, which included about 850 black women, to help deal with the backlog of mail among soldiers and concerned family members and friends, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.) The screenplay is based on the essay “Waging War on Two Fronts,” written by Kevin Hymel.
Other cast members include Melona Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantae, Sarah Jeffery, Bebe Sonuga, Moriah Brown, Jante Goodlock, Jay Reeves, Jeffrey Johnson, Dean Norris, Sam Waterston, and Oprah Winfrey. The film will feature an original song titled “The Journey” written by Diane Warren and performed by HER.
six three eight The film is part of Perry's multi-year deal with Netflix to write, direct and produce projects for streaming. The film will be released in select theaters on December 6 and will head to Netflix on December 20.
