Netflix has revealed a trailer for Tyler Perry's original war drama “The Six Triple Eight,” starring Kerry Washington.

According to the film's official synopsis, “'The Six Triple Eight' is inspired by the first and only unit of women of color to serve overseas during World War II. Tasked with an extraordinary mission and united in their determination, these unsung heroes spread hope and broke down barriers.”

Washington plays Major Charity Adams, who leads a battalion of female recruits in the film's trailer, giving them some stern words of encouragement before they begin their training. “I'm giving you my best, and you're giving me your best,” Adams says in a high-pitched voice. “A lot of people don't want us to succeed. We have a lot to prove. Welcome to the Women's Army Corps.”

The cast also includes Oprah Winfrey, Susan Sarandon, Ebony Obsidian, Dean Norris, Sam Waterston, Melona Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Chantay, Sarah Jeffery, Bebe Sonuga, Moriah Brown, Jante Goodlock, Jay Reeves, Jeffrey Johnson, Badja Lynn Odoms, Donna Pescoy, Gregg Sulkin, and Scott Daniel Johnson.

Perry adapted the screenplay from the article “Waging War on Two Fronts” by Kevin M. Hymel. Washington and Peter Guber are executive producers. Perry, Nicole Avant, Angie Bones, Tony L. Strickland, Kerry Selig, and Carlota Espinosa also serve as producers.

“The Six Triple Eight” marks Perry’s third feature film as a director in 2024. In February, he made his directorial debut with “Mea Culpa” starring Kelly Rowland, followed in July by “Tyler Perry’s Divorce in the Black” starring Meagan Good.

“The Six Triple Eight” will have a limited theatrical release on December 6 before premiering on Netflix on December 20. Watch the trailer below.
