Kesha Launches Indie Label Kesha Records

Pop star Kesha announced Monday that she is launching her own record label, Kesha Records.

Kesha Records was launched through Warner Music Group's independent distribution arm ADA, and will host her upcoming releases there, including an album due in 2025. Kesha Records has already served as the label for her latest single, “Joyride.”

“I am proud to announce this partnership to distribute my music through Kesha Records,” Kesha said in a statement. “My name has become synonymous with transparency, integrity and safety, and I want to ensure that these values are upheld for myself and any future artists who sign with my label. Music has the power to connect the world, and I aspire for my work to be a beacon of light and goodness. I am excited to take control of my narrative and rewrite my story in music.”

ADA said it will work with Kesha's management company, Crush Music, to market and promote the album. ADA President Kat Kreditsch said in a statement that the company was “honored and committed to supporting Kesha as an independent artist while preserving her creative integrity and bold spirit.”

The brand's launch comes more than a year after Kesha released gag order Her latest contract album is under Dr. Luke's Kemosabe Records and RCA Records. By choosing to work with ADA rather than a traditional major record label, Kesha will retain significant creative ownership and control over her music.

The deal heralds a new era for Kesha, who spent much of the 2010s embroiled in a legal battle with Dr. Luke centered around her claims that the producer sexually assaulted her. Luke countersued, denying the allegations and saying they defamed him. The matter was settled out of court in June 2023.

“I am humbled and overwhelmed by the support and love you have shown me,” Kesha tweeted days after the settlement was announced. “You have embraced and carried me for the past 9 years. I am filled with joy and excitement for the beautiful things to come, the shows I will make, and the art I will share with you all.”

As for what's next for Kesha, beyond her 2025 album, she confirmed last August that she wants to re-record her hit song “Tik Tok” to permanently change the first lyric to “fuck P-Diddy.” At the time, she said she would make the change “when I get the legal rights.”
