CMA Award Winning Artist Lenny Wilson, the winner of the year award, performed a mix of her country songs, as she calls them, along with some Southern rock during an appearance on NPR. Concert on the small desk series.
Wilson delved into her 19-minute performance with the barn-burning song “Hang Tight Honey,” the second single from her new album. whirlwindShe released her new album “My Love You” on August 23, which talks about missing her “boyfriend” while performing on the road.
After the upbeat track, Wilson expressed her gratitude for NPR playing the song. small office“It was something on our bucket list,” she added, before jumping into what inspired the title of her third album with a major label.. Lower Bell Country, “I just try to keep my feet on the ground,” Wilson says. “I feel like my life has changed, but I feel like I haven’t changed.”
Wilson slowed the pace down with the mid-tempo “4x4xU,” written by Aaron Reiter and John DeCius, which she described as a song about keeping your loved ones close (and Wilson’s latest single to gain airplay on country radio). She then invited the audience to enjoy the up-tempo “Ring Finger.”
“I had to make sure that I felt like Lainey, the sister, the friend, the dog mama, the lover, so that I could be the best version of myself possible for the artist,” Wilson shared before jumping into the poignant ballad “4x4xU.” “I had to keep living my life so that I could keep writing my life.”
