LeBron James’ Olympic-Ready Skincare Brand Is Surprisingly Affordable

LeBron James is already one of the most famous athletes in the world, but even more eyes will be on him as Team USA’s standard-bearer during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, France. As for how he’ll look his best, he’ll likely have help from his own brand, The Shop. Launched in April of this year, The Shop is his exclusive men’s grooming and skincare brand at Walmart. James’s $1 billion net worth belies the fact that his grooming line is easily accessible. Each piece in the collection retails for $9.97 and includes skincare, beard care, and hair care essentials.

The pet care company is named after James' Emmy Award-winning HBO and YouTube series of the same name. And while celebrity businesses don't always seem to be associated with celebrities, launching a pet care company seems like the next logical step for the chat show set in a barbershop. the shop The show was inspired by the freewheeling conversations that take place in barbershops, especially in black communities, and guests have included musicians, athletes, comedians, actors and politicians ranging from Megan Rapinoe and Patrick Mahomes to Jay-Z and Barack Obama.

James will carry the flag for Team USA when the Olympics open on Friday, July 26, and while Team USA, which includes NBA stars, has historically dominated and remains the favorite to win, they shouldn’t expect to win. The global competition has become increasingly fierce; South Sudan nearly pulled off a historic upset against Team USA in an exhibition game, before James scored to seal a 101-100 win. To secure the Olympic gold medal, Team USA will face NBA champions such as Serbia’s Nikola Jokic and Greece’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, dozens of other NBA athletes representing other countries, and perhaps a few more surprises thanks to weak teams such as South Sudan.

In the video announcing the launch of his new grooming line, James spoke about the importance of looking his best when playing, saying, “I feel like when you look good, you play good.” He added, “I mean, if I’m going to be on TV, I have to represent my community and represent my mom. I can’t just come off as shabby, like she says.” The tagline for the clip was “Be the Face,” reflecting the fact that an athlete’s face represents more than just themselves every time they compete.
