Why isn't Greg McLean directing Wolf Creek: Legacy?
Given the success of the first two installments in the series, one would think that MacLean would be keen to return to helm the long-awaited third installment rather than let someone else take over, but it seems he's busy preparing to shoot his own biblical horror film. First exorcistAs such, he is confident that Lahiff will do the series justice thanks to his long association with Wolf Creeksaying that sometimes it's nice to have a “fresh perspective” on things.

Wolf Creek Legacy
“Shaun didn’t just step into this world; he’s been a part of it for years. This new chapter in the Wolf Creek saga is something I’m incredibly excited about: a bold new story that honors the franchise’s roots while pushing it into new, unexplored territory.”
For his part, Lahaif says: Wolf Creek: The Legacy This film will be more than just a regular horror movie, with some describing it as a film that aims to explore the “psychological horror of being stalked”, and others promising that like the previous two films, the Australian outback will once again have its own character.
“I aim to deliver the horror and suspense that fans of the Wolf Creek franchise and theatergoers have come to expect from the broader genre, but add new depth to the story. We explore the psychological horror of being stalked, the fear and resilience of these young characters, and the nightmarish quality of Outback itself. This is a story that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats, but it will also tap into something deeper — the primal fears that dark fantasy stories have always played on.”
Wolf Creek: The Legacy The film is currently in pre-production, with filming expected to begin in early 2025 for a release later in the year. Hopefully, fans will finally get to see this film come to fruition, as the project has seen several starts and stops recently thanks to delays attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ll have more news on the Australian horror film, including casting, as soon as it becomes available.
