It's time to Let Leon Bridges reintroduce himself. The soul artist has given his upcoming fourth album a simple title. Leon“And he previews it with the soothingly-sounding “Peaceful Place.” The video for the song was shot in Mexico City, near where he recorded the album, which is set to be released on October 4. He sings “I’m in a peaceful place” in the song, with bongos, handclaps and, of course, some dramatic guitar. In a statement, Bridges said it’s the album he’s been waiting his whole life to record.
“Leon “It was long anticipated,” he said. “I started writing parts of it a long time ago. [2021’s] Gold Diggers Voice“These works didn’t fit what I was trying to do on this album, and I tried to move on. But I couldn’t get rid of them because they’re a part of me. And if I’m honest, also because I think this is some of my best work ever.”
In many ways, Leon “I’ve been working on this album since I was a kid,” he continued. “This album is about simpler days. It’s about my time in my beloved Fort Worth and the experiences that made me the man I am today. It’s soul music in the truest sense; it’s infused with my soul.”
Bridges recorded the album in El Desierto, Mexico with producer and engineer Ian Fitchuk (Kacey Musgraves, Maggie Rogers) and co-producer Daniel Tashian (also Musgraves). The artist said he promises stories about his hometown and upbringing.
In 2015, Bridges said, rolling stone Actor Todd Bridges, who was born Todd Bridges, said his mother initially influenced him to play himself using the name of the lost child. “My mother would always tell me whenever I got a haircut or something, ‘Oh my God, you look like a lost child,’” he said. “Later, I wanted a more professional-sounding name. A lot of people in college called me Leon, after the actor. He had starred in cold running, Five heartbeats And Temptations“People were saying I looked like him. I felt like 'Leon' and 'Bridges' fit together really well.”
