Lily Collins, Alvaro Morte Set West End Debuts With ‘Barcelona’

In a remarkable convergence of screen talent and stage production, Lily Collins (“Emily in Paris”) and Alvaro Morte (“Money Heist”) are set to make their West End debuts in Bess Wall’s “Barcelona.”

Barcelona is a two-act play set late at night in the Spanish city of the same name. It follows an American tourist who returns home with a handsome Spaniard, and what begins as a casual encounter develops into a more complex situation where personal and political elements intertwine.

The production, directed by Lynette Linton, is scheduled to run for a limited 12-week run at the Duke of York's Theatre, from October 21, 2024 to January 11, 2025.

“Acting in the West End has been a childhood dream of mine and I’m so excited to be making my stage debut in Pace’s thrilling play Barcelona,” said Collins. “Working with this team has been a real treat and I can’t wait for the audience to go on a thrilling journey as the play unfolds. I knew the moment I finished reading the script that I had to play Erin.”

“The London theatre scene is a vibrant and exciting canvas for new and innovative work,” added Murty. “I am delighted and honoured to be part of this engaging new play, which marks my West End debut. I look forward to bringing Barcelona to life and sharing it with audiences.”

The creative team assembled for Barcelona includes Frankie Bradshaw as set and costume designer, Jay Morjaria as lighting designer, and the duo Dormani Camara and Zana as composition and sound design. Additional crew members include Gino Ricardo Green as video designer, Cynthia De La Rosa as wig and makeup designer, and Shelley Maxwell as motion director and intimate events coordinator.

“To bring my work to the West End with these wonderful collaborators is a dream come true,” said Wall, whose Tony Award-nominated theatrical credits include Grand Horizons. “I am honored to have the opportunity to share this play with a London audience.”

“What a privilege to work with this amazing team of artists to bring Bess’s words to life,” said Linton, who won multiple awards for her production of “Blues for an Alabama Sky” at the National Theatre. “I can’t wait to walk into the room with everyone.”

Barcelona is brought to the stage through a collaboration between production entities, including ATG Productions, Bad Robot Live and Gavin Kalin Productions.

In an effort to make the show more accessible to a wider audience, the producers have announced a weekly lottery. Starting October 14, 200 tickets, including the coveted front row seats, will be available for £25 ($32) each each week.
