The two global stars have praised each other for years before the new collaboration.
Lisa and Rosalía have been making waves online with their new collaboration, “New Woman.” The song was co-written with Tove Lo and is part of the BLACKPINK star’s new solo release.
In the song's surreal music video, the duo intertwine and seem to display different sides of the same prismatic coin. “Hit it when I serve/Bitch, you better get off my ass/I'm lighting up my aura/Focus on my mind/Taking my time/I'm a new woman,” Lisa belts out in the song's chorus.
Always looking great, Rosalía wears transparent, fresh clothes and sings: “I hit hard/ It comes out with a lot of confidence/ I boost my aura/ I'm focused, not stressed.”
The duo have been teasing the song on social media all week, sharing clips of the video and photos together. And it seems they’ve been wanting to collaborate for years: In a 2022 interview, Rosalía explained that she’s a huge fan of the Korean rapper. “I love Lisa. I’m a fan,” she said. “For me, I love her. She dances really well and she’s really talented.”
Likewise, Lisa spoke enthusiastically about Rosalia in her interview with Rolling Stone “Rosália is so amazing. She has her own Spanish culture, which is embedded in her personality, which influences her music,” she said. “I’m curious to see how much I can expand what I do. In terms of music and dance, I feel like I still have to learn more.”
For Lisa, “New Woman” follows “Rockstar,” her June single and her first solo release outside the group in three years. She’s been teasing an album under her new deal with RCA Records. Meanwhile, this is Rosalía’s first solo single of the year, though she’s been teasing more music on social media lately. Her third album MotomamiHer new album, The Last Song, which won two Grammys and a Latin Grammy, was released in 2022. She also collaborated with Björk and released a joint EP with ex-boyfriend Rau Alejandro in 2023.
