Loveless Cancels Tour Following Resurfaced Abuse Allegations

Alternative rock duo Loveless, made up of Julian Comeau and Dylan Tirabelli-Gamayel, have quietly cancelled their upcoming North American tour after domestic violence allegations against Comeau recently surfaced.

The band, which has nearly 2 million followers on TikTok and over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, was scheduled to kick off its tour on Sept. 13 in Las Vegas, with dates at Irving Plaza in New York City and the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville before wrapping up at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles for a hometown show on Oct. 25. Last Wednesday, opening acts Julia Wolf and Beauty School Dropout posted similarly worded messages on their social media accounts saying they would not be part of the Loveless tour after learning “recent information.”

Later that week, fans received notices that the tour had been canceled without explanation. Many attributed the cancellation to allegations on social media that Cuomo had once been accused of assault in an abusive relationship. On August 12, a user on X (formerly Twitter) posted a thread detailing a Louisiana domestic abuse case filed against Cuomo in July 2018; it was downgraded to simple assault in March 2019. According to court documents reviewed by diverseCuomo was sentenced to six months in prison, including time already served, plus a year of probation. He was issued three separate warrants the following year for failing to appear for probation, which were subsequently revoked, and his probation was completed in March 2020, shortly after Lovelace was formed.

The victim, who chose to remain anonymous, released a statement calling Cuomo a “scary and dangerous person who does not deserve a platform or to escape the mistakes he has made.” In her statement, the victim said Cuomo had anger issues and “once slapped me in the face in a public bar as a mob of people chased him because they all saw what happened.” She also alleged that he tried to throw her off a balcony and threw her phone at her as she tried to call the police.

Following these allegations, Loveless' representatives at Cardiff Giant Management and the band's PR company confirmed: diverse They are no longer affiliated with the group. Loveless's Rise Records, a BMG subsidiary, has not responded. diverseUTA declined a request for comment but has removed Loveless from its website, which often indicates that a musical act is no longer on the company’s active roster. A representative for UTA, which handles the band’s tour, did not respond to a request for comment. Loveless is also no longer listed on the website’s lineups for the upcoming Reading and Leeds festivals, which they were due to play later this week.

Loveless was set to release his first album under Rise, “Loveless II,” on September 13, though it’s unclear if it will still be released. Comeau and Tirapilli-Jamail have yet to issue a statement regarding the tour’s cancellation or the band’s status, but the latter has removed all mention of Loveless from his social media profiles and unfollowed Comeau and Loveless on social media, leading fans to believe the group has disbanded. Comeau has additionally deactivated his X account, though his Instagram and TikTok profiles remain. Neither member has responded to inquiries via social media.

The duo initially formed Loveless in 2019, releasing original music and gaining momentum through TikTok covers of Billie Eilish's “Happier Than Ever” and Kate Bush's “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God).” They signed with Rise in early 2023, releasing a number of singles leading up to “Loveless II.”
