‘Man on Fire’ Series at Netflix Casts Bobby Cannavale (EXCLUSIVE)


Bobby Cannavale will guest star in the upcoming Netflix series “Man on Fire,” diverse He learned exclusively.

The eight-episode series is based on the novel of the same name by A. J. Quinnell, which was Quinnell's first novel to feature the character Marcus Creasy.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play Chrissy, “once a highly skilled and accomplished Special Forces mercenary known for his ability to survive even the most dire situations, Chrissy now suffers from severe PTSD,” according to the series’ main plotline. “Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path of redemption. But before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.”

Billy Bullitt is also set to appear in the series.

Cannavale will play Paul Rayburn, described by some as “a former Special Forces soldier with a unique ability to read people. He is charming, caring, and protective of those he cares about. Despite his warm, paternal nature, his years in the field have given him an acute awareness of violence and human behavior. He is quick-witted and incredibly well-informed, and likely has all the answers, and if they don't, he will find them.”

Cannavale’s previous television credits include the hit Netflix series “The Watcher,” Hulu’s “Nine Perfect Strangers,” Amazon’s “Homecoming,” USA Network’s “Mr. Robot,” and Showtime’s “Nurse Jackie.” He has won two Emmy Awards to date — one for guest starring in “Will & Grace” in 2005 and another for Outstanding Supporting Actor in “Boardwalk Empire” in 2013. He has also been nominated twice for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy for his work on “Nurse Jackie.” In film, Cannavale can currently be seen in both “Ezra” and “Maxxine.” His other credits include “The Irishman,” “Old Dads,” “Blonde,” “I, Tonya,” “Chef,” “Blue Jasmine” and “The Station Agent.”

He is represented by CAA and Framework Entertainment.

Kyle Killen is the writer, executive producer and showrunner of “Man on Fire” via Chapter Eleven, with Scott Pennington also serving as executive producer. Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehman serve as executive producers for New Regency Productions. Peter Chernin, Gino Topping and Tracy Cook serve as executive producers for Chernin Entertainment, along with Steven Caple Jr., Ed McDonnell, Michael Poehler, Abdul-Mateen II and Stacey Persky, who will serve as executive producers for RedRum. Caple will also direct the first two episodes.
