Mark Hoppus Announces Memoir ‘Farenheit-182’: It ‘Gets Dark’


Mark Hobbs is exploring his life — and Blink-182’s — in a new book. On Monday, the rocker shared a silly, commercial-style video to announce that he’s releasing a memoir, Fahrenheit-182on April 8, 2025.

“This book has it all. A young man born in the California desert joins a punk rock band and goes on to conquer the world. It has skateboarding, punk rock clubs, and 90s music. But that’s not all!” the hilarious ad says. “Pre-order now, and at no extra cost we’ll throw in anxiety, depression, band breakups, self-loathing, suicidal thoughts, and of course, everyone’s favorite: cancer!”

The musician is of course referring to his years-long battle with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, Blink-182's many breakups and reunions over the years, and his open struggles with mental health.

“This is getting dark, so order your copy today and make sure you don’t miss all the little things,” he says in the video, playing a comedic salesman. “Oh, I forgot about that amazing antidote I wrote in this book that was amazing.”

The upcoming book, co-written by Dan Ozzie, will be released via Dey Street. Hoppus won't be the first Blink-182 member to write a book: Travis Barker has released his memoir Can I say: live in luxury, cheat in death, drums, drums, drums In 2016, while Tom DeLonge wrote a science fiction novel called The Trinity In June.

According to the book synopsis, the memoir will “reveal what happens when an angst-ridden kid raised in the desert experiences his parents' bitter divorce, moves across the country, changes his identity from dork to goth to punk skater, and eventually meets his best friend who serves as his musical companion.”
