About three years Following the death of Mark Lanegan, the beloved grunge singer's closest friends and collaborators will come together in December for a tribute concert in London.
In celebration of what would have been his 60th birthday, Mark Lanegan – A Celebration will host guests such as his Queens of the Stone Age bandmates Josh Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen, Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan of Soulsavers, his partner Greg Dulli of the Gutter Twins, and more.
The concert, which will take place on December 5 at London's Roundhouse, will also feature Chris Hynde of the Pretenders, Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream, Duke Garland, The Soul Savers and “very special guests”. The tribute concert is being held in partnership with the singer's family and the Mark Lanegan Foundation.
Lanegan, frontman of the Screaming Trees and a prolific solo artist, died in February 2022 after a long battle with Covid. Eddie Vedder and Nick Cave were among the artists who paid tribute to the singer following his death.
Go online and watch Mark sing Blixa [Bargeld’s] “The father role was with me on The Weeping Song on that tour,” Cave wrote. “As a lead singer, I move around a lot on stage, I can’t help it, it’s a normal nervous thing, a kind of neurotic compensation for a voice I’ve never been comfortable with. But watch Mark, watch how he walks on stage, he places himself on the microphone stand, his tattooed fist in the middle of the stand, the other resting on the microphone, steady, huge, male. When it’s time to sing, he simply opens his mouth and lets out the blues, the blues he’s lived so deeply and so fully earned, and that voice cuts through you, his sheer power on stage is utterly humbling. Greatness, Mark, greatness—a true singer, a wonderful writer and a beautiful soul, beloved by all.”
Recently, Lanegan's 2004 album was re-released for its 20th anniversary. gum A new album, titled “The LP”, was released featuring unprecedented collaborations with Beck along with other unreleased tracks from the sessions for this album.
