Mark Wahlberg’s Six Billion Dollar Superhero ‘Wish Fulfillment’


Mark Wahlberg He still holds out hope that he will one day play a superhero: The Six Billion Dollar Man. Originally slated to open in 2017, it is a reimagining of the TV series starring Lee Majors, The Six Million Dollar Man It has been stuck in development hell for over seven long years.




However, while promoting his new movie, Union, Wahlberg was asked if his co-star Halle Berry had tried to recruit him into the world of cinematic superheroes. The actor took the opportunity to once again bring up the subject of superhero Steve Austin — not to be confused with the famous wrestler “Stone Cold.” Wahlberg told ComicBook.com:

“You know, I have one superhero movie in mind,
And it is
The Six Billion Dollar Man
Officially known as the Six Million Dollar Man – increased due to inflation.
It makes sense, it makes sense, it makes sense. You know, there's a lot of technology and bioscience going on right now.
So, this is something that fulfills all superhero wishes, incredible things.

Wahlberg is not a $6 billion man in The Union.

In December 2023, Mark Wahlberg's optimistic update on The Six Billion Dollar Man Reports have suggested renewed interest in the project, and the adaptation may finally make its way to the silver screen. However, there’s no indication today that fans are any closer to seeing Steve Austin return. So, for now, diehard Wahlberg followers will have to settle for seeing him play opposite Halle Berry in the upcoming Netflix film, Union.

Although Wahlberg's character, a New Jersey construction worker, doesn't resemble him at all, The Six Million Dollar Man Steve Austin (Majors), Perry's co-star, hints at an action-packed idea that should be entertaining nonetheless. Perry said in an interview while promoting the film: Union (According to Todom):


The Federation does the dirty work for the CIA and FBI.
When you really need to get the job done, you can call on this group of people.
They are blue collar workers,
Ordinary people who get by every day.
They were selected by the Union for training in shooting, combat intelligence and tactical weapons.
