“I went back to my hometown, and I was in this little hostel next to the university because I was in university for something, and it was a beautiful day. A car pulled up with things that said 'Just Married' hanging out the back – you know, tin cans…

“I was standing there, and they got out of the car. It was the husband and wife. She was in a wedding dress, and he was in a tuxedo. And he said, ‘Oh my God. It’s the Bundys from Ohio.’ And I said, ‘Yes, congratulations, you’re married!’ And they said, ‘Yes. Oh my God, we can’t believe it.’ And the woman said, ‘Well, we’re so sorry about your show.’ And I said, ‘What do you mean?’ And the man said, ‘Oh my God. He doesn’t know. The show’s on the radio. It’s canceled. Oh, we’re so sorry.’ And I said, ‘I’d rather hear it from you.’”


Applegate says she found herself in the same boat, and never received a call from Fox to tell her. Married…and I have children Instead, she had to hear the news the same way Kristy Swanson heard that Ferris Bueller had fainted on 31 Flavors.

The series ends in 2020 (with a fitting ending), and there's already buzz about a possible spinoff or reboot that could focus on Mitch and Cam, and while nothing is set in stone yet, O'Neill says he'd definitely be willing to reprise his role as Jay Pritchett if the opportunity arose.

“I mean, I'm open to it. I like everyone to be involved, so I'm not going to be the one to [says no if everyone else wants to]”I won't do that.”
