The Estate of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has announced a new partnership with P3 Media to enhance and amplify the civil rights leader’s legacy in the film and television industry.
Intellectual Properties Management, Inc. (IPM), the estate’s licensing and management arm, has entrusted P3 Media with safeguarding and promoting Dr. King’s profound legacy through close collaboration. IPM will collaborate to develop new ideas that promote, preserve and protect Dr. King’s legacy and intellectual property, in addition to evaluating new opportunities to collaborate with other parties interested in utilizing Dr. King’s IP for creative applications.
P3 is charged with ensuring Dr. King’s life, timeless writings and history-making speeches serve as catalysts for advancing his ideals of nonviolence, racial justice and equality for all. P3’s management team includes P3 board member Ashley Bell, founder Adam Ciralsky and producing partner Gene Klein. The estate and media company has pointed toward the occurrences of historically inaccurate media projects. King, Inc. is now taking a more focused, intentional and proactive approach to presenting Dr. King’s life through television and film.
“Before my brother Dexter’s recent passing, he and I felt that this partnership represents an extraordinary opportunity to share with new audiences and future generations the enduring messages of justice, equality, and compassion that my father ardently championed throughout his lifetime,” King Jr.’s daughter, Dr. Bernice A. King, said in a statement. “By collaborating closely with P3, we have the unique ability to amplify these timeless ideals and ensure that they resonate powerfully with people around the globe. It creates an opportunity for my brother Martin and I, as the remaining shareholders of King, Inc., to continue the aim of ensuring that our father’s legacy is accurately portrayed.”
Bell added: “It’s a profound privilege to work with King, Inc. to bring Dr. King’s transformative words and indomitable spirit to people everywhere while safeguarding his remarkable legacy. Together, we will harness the power of various media to honor Dr. King’s life’s work and inspire and empower audiences worldwide.”
P3 just wrapped production on Season 2 of the hit Netflix spy thriller, “The Recruit,” starring Noah Centineo. Dr. King and Bell are also executive producers on P3’s forthcoming feature documentary with Vanity Fair Studios.
