Marvel’s SDCC Panel Reveals Disappointing Thunderbolts* Title Update


the Lightning The Last Man arrived at the San Diego Comic-Con, where the cast and crew were in attendance to briefly discuss the film. While many fans were hoping for some unexpected revelations about the upcoming film, they were left disappointed, especially when it was announced that fans won't find out what the * in the title means until the film's release next year.




During the panel, the film's stars shared some small details about their roles in the movie, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who explained how “Valentina seeks power and control, and I would say in general she wants to be the best in the Marvel Universe.” Florence Pugh added that she did many of the stunts herself in the film, and Sebastian Stan noted that Pugh's performance is what makes the film so great. Meanwhile, Wyatt Russell promised audiences that his character, US Agent, will be loved.

Lightning* It will now be the final film in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Jake Schreier and written by Eric Pearson and Lee Sung-jin, the story will follow the film's titular group of heroes and antiheroes. The group consists of many familiar faces from this Marvel history, including Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko).


Top Gun: Maverick Meanwhile, “The Last Jedi” star Lewis Pullman will star as Robert Reynolds, aka Sentry, a character often described as Marvel's Superman who embodies both the hero and the villain.


Thunderbolts* is scheduled to hit theaters in May 2025.

Over the past few years, there have been numerous reports, quotes, and insights about so-called superhero “fatigue.” However, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Star Wyatt Russell, who will reprise his role as John Walker, aka U.S. Agent in Lightning*, assured fans that the upcoming film will offer something different in the franchise, declaring, “It's time to make a good Marvel movie.”


“But this is not a straight Marvel movie like you’ve seen in the past. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun but I think it’s going to be something that I hope Marvel fans look at and say, ‘Okay, this is a little different, let’s work hard.’ As far as how we approach it, it’s time to work a little bit, it’s time to make a good Marvel movie so let’s do that and work hard and not take things for granted.”

Lightning* It is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 5, 2025, as the final film in Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
