During an interview on Rich Eisen Show To promote his film on Apple TV+, The instigatorsDamon revealed that he was seeking a sequel to Rounder Years ago. The Oppenheimer star admitted that he recently saw his co-star Edward Norton, and that he too is interested in returning to the world after more than two decades. Damon believes that the evolution of poker over the years makes it the perfect time to revisit the characters from the classic film.
“We’ve been talking about a new movie for years, trying to make it a sequel to the Rounders series, and I just saw the Edward Norton movie a few weeks ago, as we all want to do. A lot has happened in the poker world in the last 25 years, and it’ll be fun to meet these guys.”

One would think that with Damon and Norton on board, it would be easy to get Rounders But the actor explained that disputes over the film rights made the situation complicated, although he spoke with the writers of the first film, David Levine and Brian Koppelman.
“They had a whole movie ready to go then, but now there's been a whole other change in the poker world since then, so I haven't talked to them about what it's going to be, but I know… what they had 10 years ago was great, and I'm sure they can scale it up and keep up with the times and update it to where we are today and deliver something great.”
Directed by John Dahl, Rounder The film delves into the secret world of high-stakes poker and follows two friends, played by Damon and Norton, who are desperate to win one of these high-stakes poker games in order to pay off a debt. The film takes its title from the term “rounder,” a person who travels in search of high-stakes games. In addition to Damon and Norton, the film also stars John Malkovich, John Turturro, Famke Janssen, and Gretchen Mol.
