The Masked Singer will return later this month, diverse This trailer gives us our first look at one of the opening acts — plus two more costume reveals. First up, there’s “Ship,” who performs a slow, moody version of Bastille’s “Pompeii” in the season premiere, which airs Wednesday, September 25 on Fox.

After that, two more costumes will be revealed: “Leaf Sheep” and “Woodpecker,” which join the previously revealed “Ship” and “Chess Piece.”

This new season, clues will be “strategically incorporated into costumes, song choices, and onstage moments.” The 15 celebrity contestants will be endorsed by “masked celebrity ambassadors,” made up of past contestants including Dick Van Dyke (season 9 gnome), Jewel (season 6 winner as the Queen of Hearts), Ne-Yo (season 10 winner as the Cow), and DeMarcus Ware (season 11 koala).

As previously announced, “The Masked Singer” returns next month for its 12th season with a new lineup of theme nights, including a tribute to Mattel’s Barbie on its 65th anniversary and “Footloose” on its 40th anniversary.

Miley Cyrus will also be honored with an episode dedicated to her music catalog, as well as a new episode titled “Who Are You Fest,” which features music from “unforgettable festival lineups,” as well as “Sports Night” and “Sixty’s Night.” Returning themes include “Soundtrack of My Life” and “Thanksgiving Night.”

The new season, which premieres Wednesday, September 25 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, returns to the panel of Ken Jeong, Rita Ora, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg. Nick Cannon returns as host.

In the 2023-24 broadcast season, The Masked Singer has averaged a 0.6 Live+7 Day rating among adults 18-49 and 5.9 million multiplatform viewers to date, according to Fox. The show remains Fox's #1 unscripted series, a feat it has achieved in every season it has aired.

Vanessa Hudgens won the season 11 title as Goldfish, beating out Scott Porter, who played Gumball. Other cast members from last season included Thelma Houston (Clock), Chrissy Metz (Poodle Moth), Corey Feldman (Seal), Clay Aiken/Ruben Studdard (Bates), Jennifer Lewis (Miss Cleocattra), Kate Flannery (Starfish), Charlie Wilson (Ugly Sweater), DeMarcus Ware (Koala), Colton Underwood (Love Bird), Cisco (Lizard), Billy Bush (Sir Leon), Joe Bastianich (Spaghetti & Meatballs), Savannah Chrisley (Afghan Hound) and Kevin Hart (Puck).

“The Masked Singer” is produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment. Rosie Seitchik, Craig Plestis and Cannon serve as executive producers, while Seitchik serves as producer. The series is inspired by the South Korean format created by Mun Hwa Broadcasting Corp.
