Welsh actress Morfydd Clark Steals the show as Galadriel in Rings of powerIt continues the dark fantasy genre on the big screen between the first and second seasons. The movie Hunger of Acrewhich is now available in theaters and on demand. Clarke co-stars in another hit fantasy show: Dragon HouseDirected by Matt Smith. Together, they lead a new, terrifying, and suspenseful folk horror set in the 1970s, with a gothic feel and a strange world that could benefit from a sequel or two.
We recently caught up with Clarke to learn more about her key role in Hunger of AcreHow her co-star Matt Smith once helped her prepare for her first-ever press tour when Rings of power She was at the beginning of her acting career, and is working on an upcoming Shakespearean project that also stars Riz Ahmed.

You'll quickly learn that Clarke's atmospheric horror film has a number of rewarding elements, especially the folk atmosphere that creates an overall eerie effect.I am really interested in [this] A kind of folklore and the idea that nature is the ultimate winner no matter what happens.She told MovieWeb, adding:
“It’s also an idea of folklore and tradition, where our homes change and our clothes change, but we’re still the same kind of scared, sensitive little beings we’ve always been… I also think it seemed a bit British in a funny way. I’m very interested in it coming out in America… It’ll be interesting to see how Americans feel about it.”

Morfydd Clarke connects with fictional rival Matt Smith
Clarke plays a mother in distress named Juliet, who spends much of the harrowing film grieving and struggling to adjust to her new tragic circumstances. Matt Smith plays her equally grieving husband, who Clarke says has been incredibly helpful in keeping her comfortable during this grim project.
“Matt is a very professional and has done so many amazing things… He’s great with people and he’s great to be around,” Clarke told us. “I think he felt that When we weren't on screen, I needed to be nice, comfortable, and safe.. And so it was a really nice environment, really… I'm really grateful to work with him on this, because I mean, There's a lot of really dark stuff, and it deals with really sensitive stuff.“And it was really nice to be with someone who could bring a kind of lightness to that.”
Clark went on to talk about the benefits of working with Smith:
“I was so lucky to be with Matt because I met him before my first press tour ever, and he gave me all the details about it, and Comic-Con, and all that stuff, and made me feel so much better…
That was probably very helpful to our film because he was clearly saying, “This woman is in a state of panic about this press tour. I need to calm her down!”
“But yeah, it was a lot of fun. We had a lot of laughs about it, like, ‘We’re not wearing blonde wigs! We’re comfortable and we can scratch our heads.’”

Clarke says Riz Ahmed reinvents Shakespeare with Hamlet
between Rings of power And Hunger of Acre — Projects with elements of fantasy and folklore — Clarke assures us that she hasn’t given up yet and would love to continue to dabble in the fantasy genre. “I would love to do fantasy films that have a lot of that ’80s aesthetic because I grew up watching Dark Crystal And The never ending story“I was really spoiled,” she said. Rings of power In fact, on Hunger of Acre…with lots of practical effects. I would like more of that because you feel like you're a little kid in a magical world.”
Looking ahead, Clarke also kept busy preparing a new version of Shakespeare's famous play. village“It was a huge honor to be in it, and it was really great to be in it.” Work vs Riz Ahmedwho does a lot of music and rap, because his ability to handle the language was just — I felt like I was hearing him in ways that made sense to me, in ways that were completely different from what I had seen before.“I felt like I was in a master class every day, and I'm really excited to see people watching,” Clark said.
