Disney has now halted development on the upcoming film adaptation of the young adult novel. The Graveyard Book By Neil GaimanThe decision comes in the wake of recent sexual assault allegations against Gaiman, with insiders telling IndieWire that the film “has not been canceled but multiple factors, including the allegations, have contributed to its postponement.” Director Marc Forster, known for his Amount of Solace, Monster Ball, World War Z, and Christopher RobinDirector Neil Gaiman is set to direct the project. No cast has been announced yet, and Gaiman has no involvement in the adaptation. However, it seems that his name being named was reason enough (or at least one of many) to temporarily halt the project.
Published in 2008, The Graveyard Book The story of Bud, a boy who lives in a graveyard and is raised and educated by ghosts, with a lone guardian who belongs neither to the world of the living nor to the world of the dead. Facing all manner of supernatural dangers, the real danger lies in the land of the living, where Bud is locked in battle with the man who murdered his family.
The project’s suspension comes after five women came forward with allegations of sexual assault and abuse, one of which dates back to 1986. Each of the allegations is separate from the others, dating back years. One of the women, Caroline Wallner, alleged that while she was a tenant at Gaiman’s Woodstock, New York, home, she was forced to have sex with the author in exchange for allowing her and her daughters to stay there. Gaiman has since denied the allegations.

The audience had to wait patiently for the second season, which is now in development. While a release date has not been announced yet, sand man Season 2 premiered in front of cameras earlier this year and is expected to premiere in 2025.
