Footage and clips from several unreleased anime shows on Netflix, including some full episodes, have leaked online after hackers stole the content from one of the company's post-production partners. These shows include the second season of “Arcane” and “Terminator Zero.”
“One of our post-production partners was hacked and footage from several of our titles was unfortunately leaked online,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. diverseOur team is taking strict measures to remove it.
In addition to the second season of “Arcane” and “Terminator Zero,” content from other Netflix titles appeared on X and 4Chan, according to IGN, which first reported the leaks. These include “Dandadan,” “Ranma 1/2,” “Heartstopper” season 3, “Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld,” and the films “Plankton: The Movie” and “Spellbound.” Content from Sony’s anime streaming service Crunchyroll was also compromised in the hack, including “Re:Zero.”
The partner in question is Iyuno, a Burbank, California-based media localization services company, the sources said. Founded in 1974, the company says it has so far translated 35 million minutes of content and dubbed 10 million minutes of content in more than 100 languages.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 9, the company said: “Iyuno is aware of a recent security issue involving unauthorized access to confidential content. Protecting the confidentiality of our customers and ensuring the security of their content is our top priority. We are actively investigating this security breach to mitigate any potential risks and identify the responsible parties. When there are material changes or information, we will release additional statements.”
In addition to Netflix, Iyuno's clients include Disney, HBO, A+E Networks, Amazon Studios, BBC Studios, DreamWorks and eOne, according to its website.
