Earlier this year a sequel was announced for Happy Gilmore Day Netflix has officially been given the green light, and now the streaming giant is… Production on Adam Sandler's long-awaited film has begun, it has been confirmed.Released in 1996, this hilarious comedy has long been considered one of Sandler's funniest films, for one reason alone: his battle with the late Bob Barker, and Christopher McDonald's appearance as his arch-nemesis, Shooter McGuffin. Made on a shoestring budget of $12 million, the film grossed $41.2 million at the time of its release, and has since become a fan favorite.

What We Know (and Don't Know) About Happy Gilmore 2
Plot details remain under wraps for now. Happy Gilmore 2 At the moment, but there has been speculation that the film could follow Sandler entering a senior golf tournament given the fact that he is now 58 years old, which would make more sense for the character. Filming is underway in New Jersey on the production, which sees Kyle Newcheck from What do we do in the shade? The film is directed by Celebrity, while Sandler and Tim Herlihy are writing the screenplay.
In terms of cast, the only known cast member confirmed to return right now is Sandler. Macdonald has expressed great enthusiasm about reprising his role as Sandler’s nemesis, but his cast has yet to be officially announced. Other returning cast members could include Julie Bowen, Kevin Nealon, and Allen Covert, who played the golf club holder in Happy. Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing Carl Weathers, Bob Barker, or Richard Kiel return, as they have since moved on to the great golf course in the sky.
Scenes we know will happen include NFL star Travis Kelce, Sandler Uncut Gems Co-director Benny Safdie and Ben Stiller. Also possibly cast are Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, Steve Buscemi and Kevin James. They're all longtime Sandler collaborators, and have appeared in his films over the years.
