Rumors of the MCU's demise have been greatly exaggerated. Deadpool and Wolverine She came into the picture and broke all kinds of records. She replaced 2019 joker As the highest-grossing film of all time, a large part of that is probably due to the sheer number of scenes the film manages to pack in. In addition to familiar names like Chris Evans, Channing Tatum, and Wesley Snipes, we get to see Hugh Jackman play many different versions of Wolverine.
Wolverine's variants play a huge role in the plot of the film, and we're introduced to quite a few of them as Deadpool searches for the right person to help him. As a result, several have been omitted (through no fault of their own). One such variant is the Weapon X design, something audiences were last introduced to in the divisive Deadpool movie. X-Men ApocalypseConceptual artist Phil Saunders gave us a look at what Jackman would look like if he wore the same look again on Instagram.
If you've seen the movie, you'll know that the design never appears. With a running time of over two hours, it makes sense that not every design would appear, but this is definitely one of the cool variables left out of the movie. Part of the reason may be that it's been seen before in X-Men franchise, so the creators wanted to take some time to highlight other designs like the funny, accurate Wolverine.
Design Art Reveals Deadpool and Wolverine Were About to Get More Appearances
Deadpool and Wolverine The movie was filled with surprise appearances and different versions as it is, but there was almost more to it. Through concept art like the Weapon X version, we have a good idea of what the movie could have looked like if everything had been able to get some screen time. For example, we were very close to getting a female version of Juggernaut based on the character design from X-Men: The Last Stand.
Another shocking design was a Wolverine design combined with Deadpool. The end result is Deadpool with Wolverine's claws and the iconic Wolverine mask. These were only brief appearances, but fans would have no doubt gone crazy to see some of these designs appear no matter how small.
The biggest reaction was seeing reused characters from previous Marvel franchises like Elektra and Blade appear again. The surprise for many was Channing Tatum finally getting the role of Gambit, a film he had been pushing hard for but never came to fruition.
Perhaps the biggest surprise was former Superman actor Henry Cavill’s appearance in an extended cameo as Wolverine. Deadpool explains how Marvel will treat him better, perhaps about how he’ll be recast as Superman as part of the James Gunn-led reboot of the universe. Fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about seeing Cavill back in the universe as Jackman will continue to play the character until he’s 90, at least if Deadpool gets his way.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now showing exclusively in theaters.
