Originally released for In the 2012-13 season, the Nike Kobe 8 sneakers were Kobe Bryant’s signature shoe during his final years with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. To give the shoes a modern upgrade, the sportswear company will re-release the Kobe 8 Protro sneakers in Lakers colorways on Friday, September 6 at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT.
The Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Purple and Gold” retails for $180 and is built with strong lines and dual upper eyelets for extra support. In fact, the shoe is designed to conform to your feet for better response when playing basketball, or just for casual use.
The sneakers are designed to provide cushioning and traction for an active lifestyle, while Kobes have Nike React foam inserts built into the soles for added bounce, cushioning and absorption.
Meanwhile, the Nike Kobe 8 Protro sneakers feature Bryant's “sword in a sheath” logo on the back of the heels, tongues, and bottom of each sole. A pair of Nike swoosh logos are also placed on the outer mesh upper and inner collars, while Kobe Bryant's signature appears on the outer heels.

The design and shape are modern and in keeping with the basketball style of the early 2000s. As for the colors, these sneakers come in white, college gold, and purple.
The Kobe 8 Protro basketball shoe in purple and gold will be available on Friday, September 6 at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT in men's and women's sizes for $180. The shoe also comes in big kids' and little kids' sizes starting at $90 per pair on nike.com.
Additionally, the shoes come in black, wolf grey, university navy, and university red — as part of Nike's “Team Bank” collection.
