The Oasis meeting is sure to happen, and it probably will.
Liam and Noel Gallagher appeared to confirm on social media on Sunday that the group was getting back together after the brothers posted a video of the date, August 27, 2024, along with the time, 8am, on their respective X/Twitter accounts. Oasis' official website also read “27.08.24” on its homepage.
After reports circulated over the weekend about a possible Oasis reunion, Liam Gallagher has begun fuelling speculation with a series of social media posts.
“I never liked the word FORMER,” the singer said on the X Sunday morning show.
When one user complained about Oasis playing at Heaton Park in Manchester, calling it a “horrible venue”, Liam Gallagher replied: “See you at the front you big idiot.”
Oasis officially disbanded in 2009 after a rift between the Gallagher brothers prompted Noel Gallagher to leave the rock group.
In April of this year, Oasis received their first nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which if inducted could have led to a reunion of the Gallagher brothers. However, Liam Gallagher's reaction to the nomination led him to quickly dismiss the possibility.
“Go to hell with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it’s full of BUMBACLARTS,” Liam Gallagher wrote on X (formerly Twitter) at the time. In another post, he said of his brother: “Little guy loves hanging out with celebrities, so he’ll probably go with them; I’m getting my hair washed, pedicures and manicures.”
In June, Liam Gallagher launched a tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of Oasis' debut studio album, “Definitely Maybe.” The album also received a new reissue earlier this year.
