It's summer, and you know what that means. There's another body in Arconia. Season 4 of Only murders in the building The film kicks off with a bang and another murder victim has been found. This time, the victim is Charles's surrogate, Suz Pataky (Jane Lynch). Now any free time Charles, Oliver and Mabel might have had is gone.
We can expect a new murder every season, but things seem a little different this time around. A few new suspects have emerged, but none of them seem particularly convincing. What’s more, The circumstances surrounding Saz's death seem to fit together perfectly.Could there be more going on behind the scenes than we or the trio know? If one Reddit theory is to be believed, there could be something else driving the plot forward. Something to do with the film adaptation of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel’s podcast. But who’s pulling the strings, and why? Let’s take a look at some theories that suggest there’s more than meets the eye surrounding the trio’s fourth murder.
Conspiracy theory about the only murders in the building
Only murders in the buildingSeason 3 ended in a predictable way. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel had solved Ben Glenroy's murder and were ready to take a well-deserved break from solving murders. But that break ended when Saz was shot right inside Charles' apartment. The location, coupled with the fact that it was dark and that Saz was wearing identical clothing to Charles, seemed to indicate that he was the intended target..
Unlike previous seasons, the trio don’t discover the body right away. By the time they return to Charles’s house after their latest murder-suicide party, Saz’s body has already been removed. This is where some well-timed plot devices come into play. Friend and neighbor Howard enters with his new rescued dog, who begins pacing back and forth and barking over the spot where Saz’s body fell. There’s no time to explore this, as the trio receives an email inviting them to Los Angeles to discuss a film adaptation of the podcast.
according to Reddit User u/Formal-Technical, Film is the key to everything.. What if the studio filmed this crime in real time and watched the three solve it as inspiration for the story? There are a lot of coincidences that just happen out of nowhere. The film is already in production, with a cast, director and screenwriter. They seem very confident that they will secure the life rights to the trio very quickly. Why would they be so confident unless they already know how things will play out?
Charles learns from Scott Bakula (whom he has run into) that Saz has disappeared. Fortunately, Jane Lynch somehow resembles Steve Martin and Scott Bakula. This information leads them to her apartment, where Mabel receives a text from Howard explaining that his dog is a cadaver dog. Charles receives a call from the doorman about the bullet hole in his window, just as an anonymous person sends him a threatening text from Saz’s phone. Back in Arconia, Howard’s dog leads them to Saz’s cremated remains in the basement crematorium, which Charles identifies by her prosthetic joints from Bulgaria (which were revealed to the audience during a search of the apartment). Pretty dark for a comedy, isn’t it?
Suspicious coincidences and convenient plot devices in the building murders only.
What are the chances of all these events happening at the same time and at the right time? Very small chances. Unless there is a text within the universe that moves the story forward. The coincidences don't stop in the first episode, as the show's original killer, Jean, escapes from prison to visit Charles in the second episode. For this theory to work, it's clear that Saz has to be part of it. While we see her get shot in the final episode of season three, We don't actually see her die.Howard will also need to be part of the ruse, as he reveals his dog's profession at just the right time.
But why does this all happen? It all comes down to Hollywood. Instead of rehashing an old case, what if the studio could monitor the process in real time? They can set up everything surrounding Saz's death to look like a real murder, then sit back and watch the trio solve it using the skills they've acquired over the past three years.Take that process, put it on screen, and there you have it, the magic of the movie. But what about the actors? Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, and Zach Galifianakis have been cast to play the trio in the film. If the studio is going to secretly film Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, why do they need actors? It’s possible that they’re not actually secretly filming and will reenact the events later with the actors. Or perhaps they’re filming the trio, and the actors are just there to distract. Producer Bev Mellon is confident that the film will be released in just a few months, which suggests that they’ve already started filming.
How did they achieve this (and how plausible was it?)
So, if this theory is true, is Saz really dead? If she was involved in the plan, it’s unlikely. Remember, Saz was a stunt double. It was her job to put herself in danger. Getting shot and falling to the ground is part of the job. They could have faked her death and taken her to a secret location. Elements of her character seemed off this season, like when it was suggested that she had classified information about someone in Arconia who was threatening Charles. Yes, she’s one of his old friends, but she wasn’t involved enough to take on an active role in that way. She was just a source of entertainment, not a secret researcher.
Other Reddit users pointed out that a basic crematorium wouldn’t be hot enough to turn human bones to dust. That seems like a separate and annoying process in cremation. But Saz was pure sand inside the crematorium. So was she ever there? No one was present when she was shot “dead” in Charles' kitchen, and no one saw her body being carried downstairs. She may have been shot, but it was enough to leave a trail of blood on her. Send some cryptic text messages, bring in the “cadaver” dog, and voila, a perfect Hollywood murder.
So, is this the most likely theory? It has merit, but it also has some flaws. First, what advantage would the studio have in staging a full-blown murder for research? It’s a complicated process. Not to mention how many people would have to be involved in the investigation. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel are seasoned professionals, so they know what to look for in an investigation. And what if the three discover the case is staged and can’t solve it? Why not adopt one of their previous endeavors? Only time will tell, but either way, the trio should probably move to a building that doesn’t see many murders. Only murders in the building It is streaming on Hulu.
